Bearing steel is a high carbon, chromium containing low alloy steel that is made by low-temperature heat treatment. The material can be used in highly stressed applications where standard materials are not suitable due to the extremes imposed by a component’s service life. 52100 52100 is a high-carbon chromium alloy steel that, because of its versatility, is used in a variety of mechanical applications. In the annealed condition this steel is comparatively easy to machine, yet very high hardness and abrasion resistance can be developed by heat treatment to make the steel particularly suitable for applications requiring extreme wear resistance, such as bearings. In addition, 52100 alloy steel can be heat treated to high levels of tensile strength and fatigue strength. AMS 6440 AMS 6444 ASTM A295 ASTM A485 (for modified grades) 440C is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel that is AOD, AOD + ESR, or AOD + VAR melted. It has slightly more carbon than 440A and 440B giving it the highest hardness of any martensitic stainless alloy. This grade has excellent wear resistance making it perfect as a bearing steel used as ball bearings and bearing races. It is also readily used as cutlery. The steel is vacuum induction melted (VIM) and vacuum arc remelted (VAR) to provide the extremely high cleanliness level required for these fatigue-critical applications. BG42 has proven to be an excellent knife steel when produced in sheet form. It offers excellent wear and corrosion resistance. The molybdenum enhances the corrosion resistance provided by the high chromium content. In addition, the chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium contents provide approximately 19% carbide volume in the steel.     Aerospace Steel Balls Manufacturing Custom Aerospace Steel Balls Manufacturing Chrome Steel Balls (AISI52100) T he Chrome Steel Balls are usually used for aerospace ball bearings and ball screws. We always use AISI 52100 per AMS 6440 or AMS 6444 material. Stainless Steel Balls(AISI440C) 440C is a high carbon martensitic stainless steel that is AOD, AOD+ESR or AOD+VAR melted. It has slightly more carbon than 440A and 440B giving it the highest hardness of any martensitic stainless alloy. This grade has excellent wear resistance making it perfect as bearing steel used for ball bearings and bearing races. It also is readily used as cutlery. For aerospace requirements, we use 440C per AMS 5618, AMS 5630, AMS 5880 Spec. High-speed Alloy Steel Balls (AISI M50) The M-50 ball alloy which is produced by vacuum-induction melting (VIM) and vacuum-arc re-melting (VAR) processes, has excellent resistance to softening at high service temperatures. M-50 balls also have high compressive strength characteristics similar to high-speed tool steels, and a good degree of oxidation resistance. It is a system initiated and developed by the giants of the US aerospace and defense industry and the US Department of Defense, SAE and other institutions to certify special products and processes in the aerospace industry. It is a special process certification project in the aerospace industry. Nadcap is based on the AS 9100D aerospace quality management system, focusing on compliance with the entire special processes of products. It is the most comprehensive and in-depth technical audit in the world in terms of special processes. The successful passing of the Nadcap certification this time indicates that the civil aerospace system has recognized the company's special non-destructive testing process.
